Unfortunately, I missed the first day of this institu so that this journal will be a bit shorter. My experience in the time that I was able to spend in the classroom was excellent. I enjoyed my group, and in the short time working with them. I was thoroughly impressed with their reading and drama skills. During their presentation, I thought my group and everyone else knocked it out of the park. Drama in English is something I am really excited about right now. For my practicum, I have a reader’s theatre for Frankenstein’s monster play that I am currently putting together. This Insitu further inspired confidence in me showing how effective readers theatre can be for building literacy skills. This experience reinforced my belief that drama deepens students’ connection to texts and creates a dynamic, collaborative learning environment where literacy skills can flourish in meaningful and memorable ways. By incorporating readers theatre and drama into my teaching practicum, I actively support the BC ELA curriculum’s goals of fostering creativity, communication, and critical thinking, while helping students develop a lifelong appreciation for the power of language and storytelling. Overall, though short, a really great experience.
